About This Dog for Adoption

Mia's ideal home

If you are after a loving companion who is happiest by your side, Mia could be your girl. She is a sweetheart who will thrive in a calm, understanding home where she can truly relax. Mia will need to be the only pet, with a secure garden and peaceful walking routes away from the hustle and bustle. She can live with sensible children aged 14 and over who understand that she sometimes likes a bit of peace and quiet. At nearly 9 years old, she is still full of personality but enjoys taking life at an easier pace. She will need to be kept on a lead and muzzled in public.

Could you be Mia's perfect match?

Mia is wonderfully affectionate and will happily curl up for a cuddle, especially with her favourite squeaky toys. She is content to be left for a few hours with a break, is housetrained, and travels well in the car. She is also a star for grooming and vet visits. On walks she loves to sniff and explore and is perfectly happy with short, gentle outings. Once she feels at home, she will press herself in for scritches, lean into you for affection and bring a whole lot of love into your life.

This dog is currently being rehomed under our Home Stay scheme. Under this scheme, the dog stays with their current owner until the point of adoption, when the ownership transfers briefly to Dogs Trust and then to the new adopters. The benefits of Home Stay for a dog are that it minimises disruption and prevents the dog having to come into kennels, however there is the potential the owner may pull out of the scheme prior to adoption. We understand the upset this may cause to potential adopters, and we work closely with the owners to minimised the likelihood of this. However, it remains a possibility, and should this occur, Dogs Trust will prioritise finding adopters an alternative dog.

Boxer Puppy Buying Checklist

We highly recommend every buyer reads through the below advice when purchasing or rehoming a Boxer.

  • View the animal in the place it was born and raised - check for genuine home environments if buying privately, or the quality of the breeders set-up if applicable.
  • If viewing a puppy under 8 weeks, by law they MUST be seen with their mum.
  • Make sure the animal's old enough to be rehomed. 8 weeks should be the earliest a puppy can be rehomed.
  • By law, all dogs MUST be microchipped
  • Review and verify any documents, such as KC registration paperwork where applicable

Avoid Potential Scams

There are a number of red flags to look out for when purchasing a new puppy:

  • Seller demands a deposit without allowing you to see the dog first - never send any money before meeting the animal in person
  • Seller is reluctant to send you additional photos or videos
  • Seller offers to deliver the dog/puppy
  • Seller asks to meet in a mutual location
  • Seller uses fake or stolen photos from the internet. Always carry out a "Google image search".
  • Seller asks to immediately switch to communication off the Boxer Owners website
  • Seller uses a different phone number to the one listed on the website - especially if that phone number is in one of the advert images

Although we have a number of automated systems in place to prevent scam and fraudulant adverts, these can never be 100% accurate and its important to use caution when buying online. We do not accept any responsibility for transactions between our users, especially when our safe buying advice is not followed.
